The wonderful Library facility is the hub of our school and caters for students, staff and community.
Vision Statement
“To provide a stimulating environment for the school and community, nurturing a love of books and promoting information gathering.”
Our team of full-time staff, student librarians and community volunteers aim to provide:
- A welcoming, warm environment
- An up-to-the-minute ICT Suite
- A fantastic Resource Room, everything at our fingertips
The Library and Information Centre is in constant use by Wairakei Primary School students and staff, borrowing books for pleasure and information, conducting whole class Information Skills lessons, learning about and using the up-to-date ICT equipment, researching topics and following up personal interests, fun displays and activities, lunchtime games, competitions and stories, meetings and workshops. All classes have timetabled weekly visits during which time the students take advantage of all our facilities, to browse and exchange books for borrowing. Students are also able to work in the Library and ICT Suite during the day when there are no classes scheduled.
Senior students may borrow two books and Juniors one book. These may be loaned for one week. It is possible to reissue the book again if it is not reserved by another student. Books may be reserved at any time and it will be held in the Library when it is returned by the previous borrower.
