Shouts Outs

Every day in Room one we practice mindfulness which is about being grateful for what we have and doing deliberate acts of kindness. This could be greeting every teacher and adult they see, playing with someone who is playing alone, helping out a junior student or any other ways that make others feel good.

With that in mind, we started a ‘Shout Out’ wall in our room where everyday students can write something positive about someone in the class. At the end of the week, all the shoutouts are taken down and given out to take home and show parents and keep.

This has been a really positive thing to do. During the day students can be seen going up and writing away then putting their shout out up. Others go and read the shout outs and are really excited to see their name up there. It makes them feel good and they, in turn, want to make others feel good. Happiness is contagious!

I like the shoutouts because I like how everyone has positive thoughts about each other. Maddox

I like the shoutouts because I get nice compliments about me.  I keep them at home and stick them on my wall with pins so I can see them.  I also cover them all over my window! Jayden Porter
