Students in the Driving Seat

Five Room 8 students were asked to go to Room 1 to learn how to make paper flowers for Mother’s day.  This was a great way for our seniors to show Tuakana/ teina with younger students.

When the students returned they asked if they could show the rest of our class (Room 8) how to make them as well. Students from our class became tutors and they took over being teachers of the art curriculum in an afternoon.

The students became very creative with their bouquet of flowers and used different colours for their flower petals. A very effective way to make flowers for our mums and for students to drive their own learning.
