2020 Cross Country

The 2020 Wairakei Primary School Cross Country was a success for the fact that the school didn’t let Covid-19 stop us.

It was great to see everyone participating, trying their best and pushing themselves on their run. It was amazing to see and hear the amount of support and encouragement students and parents were showing towards each other. I’m sure the encouragement helped energise runners just when they needed it, and get some of our runners over the finish line. Respect to self, others and the environment was definitely on show all day.

Here are the top 10 finishers from some of the races. The top 6 finishers from year levels 4-6 will go on to represent Wairakei Primary School at the Interschool Cross Country. Wairakei Primary School wishes you all luck and the school is already proud of you for your achievements.

Wairakei Primary School would like to send out a special thank you to all the people that made it such a successful day, including Sue Maclean, Noel from the Harriers Club, John, the Terry family for use of their gazebos, the race marshalls, school staff and all the people that turned up to support the children that were running. You all played such an integral part in making the day a memorable one that the children will look back on with fond memories.
