It was an exciting day with full participation and engagement from all the students. There were some exciting heats and finals. The 5-event rotation programme ensured all students had the opportunity to shine. Finishing with the anticipated 800m year 4 competition where we saw some outstanding commitment and talent shine.
We saw amazing dedication and improvement through all of Aratiatia leading up to our athletics day.

Levi - I want to be able to jump the high jump
Hope- I want to be able to do the scissor jump
Luca- I want to be able to jump over the bar.
Throwing the vortex was not easy for us at the beginning of the term - but became so much easier for us all.
Chelsea- Throwing the vortex needs you to hold it near your ear.
Jordyn-lea - you need to aim so it goes where you want it to.
Running sprints and relays were fun and interesting ways for us to practice the correct way to run and how to get better at the art of running.

Declyn- I can now run faster than I could last week
Long jump was a rotation that required us to ran fast jump with two feet and land in the sand as far as we can. At first, it seemed like a lot to remember then after a lot of practice we were able to jump and we were able to jump some far distances in our athletics day.
Maxwell- I want to be able to jump further
The day brought a lot of support and fun for our Aratiatia athletics middle school day.
Te Ahurei- I can’t believe I managed to get better at all areas of running and jumping.
