Mini-Conferences are an opportunity for teachers to share some of the great work that is happening in our school and for the community, parents and whanau to get involved and have their say around some of the upcoming initiatives we are undertaking.

There was a wide variety of presentations to be viewed:

  • How you can help your child at home with mathematics

  • Dealing with anxiety

  • Transition to school and our Steaming into School Programme

  • How our must-do and can-do’s work in the classroom

  • How to encourage mindfulness in children

  • Digital Technology in the classroom - also featuring our facilitator from the University of Waikato, Stephen Ross

  • How to encourage and improve oral language

  • Conversational Te Reo activities

  • Development of our new Learner Profile and Inquiry Cycle

  • Information about ‘Power 4 Learning’ - our new school wide behavioural programme.

The Board of Trustees asked parents and whanau for their views around a number of different questions about Wairakei Primary School now and in the future.

The PTA (Parent Teachers Association) was there to advertise the upcoming Pet Day (November 2nd) and sign up more volunteers.

School events such as the Mini-Conference allow our community to have their say, talk to teachers from across the school and find out about what we do at school.
