Newsletter Week 1 Term 3 2015

Welcome back to the cooler weather that often occurs in Term 3. I saw an increased number of children with shoes on for the first time in a while.

We had a very quiet term break with no major incidents occurring at school.

We hosted a workshop for teachers on the last weekend of the school holidays and I must say I have never been prouder of the school. Our rooms all looked inviting and full of learning. The hall showcased the art work being used for the calendar art and the grounds were a pretty picture. Due to the weather our visitors did not get to look at our other features like the gully and the maze. They had to make do with the classrooms. It is a funny feeling watching other teachers takes photos of our walls. Some of my colleagues from Tauranga came to the workshop. They had not seen our school or any of the work our teachers have been working on. They now want to come back and talk to us about what we are doing for our learners and take more ideas away.

I would like to welcome Colleen Green and Charmaine O’Hanlon to the school. Colleen will be working with the senior school based in Room 3 and Charmaine is working with Frances Towers in Room 10.

Powhiri to welcome all our new families to the school went extremely well. It is always such a lovely way to start each term. The community calendar is out today. Some dates will change. We will be updating these on the school web site.

You will see a flier for The Ned Show included in this newsletter. This is a free show for our students on building character. They make their money by selling yoyo’s that can be purchased from the school by completing the order form on the flier.

From Week 2 we will be using an online system to contact you if your child is away. To make this work you need to update your cellphone. You will be asked to send back a quick reply to acknowledge you have received the text. A form will be sent home for you to update your contact details.

Parent teacher discussions are being held next Thursday. Bookings can be made on line at The code for our school is QFBSH. Please contact the office if you have any issues booking your interview/s.

Kind regards

Paula Farquhar
