Pou awhina" is a Māori term that translates to "support post" or "pillar of support" in English. It refers to someone or something that provides assistance, guidance, or support.

Each class has been assigned their own Pou Awhina to help support each individual class.

In Room 4 Jaxon is our Pou awhina. He supports the classroom by sharpening pencils, taking the recycling out, and delivering the lunch orders. Jaxon takes his role seriously and is always prompt with time management.

I like my role because it makes you feel happy when I am helping other people in other classes.

Dorian is a great help in Room 12, sharpening pencils at the beginning of the week and helping with art projects.

Dorian plays with us on wet days.
