Full-time, fixed-term, Wednesday, January 27, 2027 to Tuesday, January 25, 2028. Applications close 4p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2026
A full year, and a team that will make it count.
Wairakei Primary School, Taupō, has a full-time classroom teaching position for the 2027 school year, covering parental leave. It starts on Wednesday, January 27, 2027 and ends on Tuesday, January 25, 2028.
A fixed term here is not a holding pattern. You will have the same induction and professional learning as permanent staff. Colleagues two doors down will happily share their planning. Feedback is regular and straight, because the goal is a strong year for you and for the students.
The year level is not fixed in advance. Placement is decided once the school's structure for 2027 is settled, so tell the school in your cover letter where your strengths sit.
This suits an experienced teacher wanting a year in Taupō, a teacher returning to the classroom, or a newer teacher ready for a full year with support behind them. Te reo and tikanga Māori are part of ordinary classroom life here, guided by the POWER values (Pride, Opportunity, Whānau, Excellence, Respect).
What you will bring
- A Tūturu, Pūmau or Tōmua practising certificate.
- Curiosity, initiative and the belief that every student can make progress.
- Confidence with technology, and an interest in making things work better.
- A willingness to work with whānau, and to be part of school life beyond your classroom.
- Also valued: BSLA structured literacy, Oxford Maths or Maths No Problem, and te reo Māori capability.
