Out-of-zone enrolment for 2027

Wairakei Primary School has an enrolment scheme. Students who live inside the school zone are entitled to a place. Students who live outside the zone can apply for one of a limited number of places, allocated by ballot if applications exceed the places available.

Applications are now open for students starting during the 2027 school year, which begins Tuesday, February 2, 2027.

•        Year 0 to 1: 20 places

•        Year 2: 5 places

•        Year 3: 5 places

•        Year 4: 5 places

•        Year 5: 5 places

•        Year 6: 3 places

Key dates

•        Applications close 3p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2026.

•        The ballot, if one is required, will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

•        Every applicant will be told the outcome in writing within three school days of the ballot.

Priority order

If there are more applications than places at a year level, places are allocated in this order:

1.         Students accepted for enrolment in an approved special programme. No special programme currently runs at the school, so this category does not apply.

2.         Students who are siblings of students currently enrolled at the school.

3.         Students who are siblings of former students of the school.

4.         Students who are the children of former students of the school.

5.         Students who are the children of board members, or of employees of the board.

6.         All other applicants.

Where a category is oversubscribed, places within it are decided by ballot. Applicants who are not offered a place go on a waiting list in the order drawn, and the list stays current until the next ballot.

How to apply

Download the 2027 Ballot Application Form, complete it, and return it to the school office before the closing time. Paper copies are available from the office. Completed forms can also be emailed to info@wairakeitaupo.school.nz, which is the way to apply during the school holidays from Saturday, September 26 to Sunday, October 11, 2026.
