The board invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their children at Wairakei Primary School for 2026
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school office.
Applications are to be made by filling out the ballot application form, which is available on the school website: www.wairakeitaupo.school.nz
The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places is Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 3p.m.
The board has determined the following places are likely to be available:
Year 6 – 2 places
Year 5 – 5 places
Year 4 – 5 places
Year 3 – 5 places
Year 2 – 8 places
Year 0/1 – 15 places
If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required, it will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

Students living outside of the zone may apply for a place through ballot to fill any available vacancies at the school. Download Ballot form here. Application forms are also available from school office. Applications for 2026 close 3p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
Enrolment Scheme Information for 2026
The priority order for places remains:
1. First priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school (Wairakei Primary School does not have a special programme so this priority does not apply).
2. Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student at the school.
3. Third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school.
4. Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
5. Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
6. Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
Ballot date for 2026
For students enrolling in 2026 ( February 2 – December 16, 2026) the ballot closes 3p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025, with the ballot taking place on Monday, November 10, 2025.
