Week 9 Term 1, 2025
Daylight saving signals change. The autumn days make us feel like summer is still there while letting us all sleep better at night.
One of the other things that happens around this time is the impressive email we get from Fern Fuels with the amount of sponsorship we have received over the summer. This year is an increase to what we normally receive. The combined effort of our sponsors has meant we are able to spend just under $5000 on sports equipment and TVs for the classrooms. This has a huge impact for the school. We can continue to have the fancy balls for the Tokarewa programme and replace the balls for Netball and Hockey to start the winter season. A huge thank you to each and every sponsor who works alongside Fern Fuels––Wairakei Primary School certainly appreciates your support.
I have added a link to the top of the navigation bar of the website so that all newsletters are on display. You can go back and see any of the newsletters you may have missed. Plenty of late night reading in the newsletters.
Team newsletters will also be sent out in the first week of Term Two. They can all be found under the same link as well as on the Tile.
Staff Changes
We have a few staff changes happening for Term Two. Fiona Griffin is going to be with us for another term working alongside the BSLA students and taking other groups of students to support their learning. Paul Morehu is with us until June 13, 2025 when he then heads off with his family to teach in China. Suzanne Flowers takes up a teaching position at Taupō Primary at the end of week two Term Two.
Community News and Important Dates
Kaylah from Room 4 has been chosen to talk with More FM on Wednesday April 2, 2025. Have a great time sharing and chatting with the announcers.
Congratulations to Micah, Donovan and Harley in their BMX competitions. I hear there is a lot to celebrate for all three students. Once I have a full update I can share it with the community.
Lost property will be on display at the Celebration of Learning. Let's hope we can return some jackets and hoodies to their owners.
Remember to check the school calendar for upcoming events.
Swimming is now in full swing. Six classes are going during the next two weeks and another two classes in the first weeks of Term Two.
