Week 5, Term 4, 2024
All future newsletters will be sent out via the WPS Web App hosted within the website, including the start of the year newsletter that you all enjoy so much. You know the one with the stationery lists on it.
When the move from paper to electronic emails occurred I stressed about it so much. Will anyone show up to the events? Will anyone answer the surveys?
I think I might have been the only one that was stressed. After the first few weeks of just a few people we have grown over time to an audience of just under 500 readers, with an open rate exceeding 80 percent. That does not mean you all read the newsletter, it just means you open it.
Some of the original subscribers have been with us for that whole time. Today I am saying goodbye to those readers without children at the school and thanking them for their commitment to the newsletter and ultimately the school.
By strengthening the security around the newsletter, it defines readership to those with children at the school. Long time readers can continue to follow us via the website and the blogs. Learning will still be on show for you to see.
A transition does take a while to occur and unlike the whole year it took when we moved from paper to electronic we are speeding this one up. November 26, 2024 newsletter will be published using the app. This is the last newsletter that will be sent as an email.

New Staff 2025
I am delighted to announce our new staff for 2025:
Jessica McLeod, Caitlin Bone, Matt Astle, are joining us, along with Jonas Bucher and Briana Te Whare who are returning from their overseas sojourn.
It is time to please return the Year 6 Kids Can jackets to the office
It was disappointing to hear that some of these nice jackets have been found in the OP shops around town. These jackets are a gift from Kids Can to us as a school. They need to come back to school if you are not using them or no longer want them. They should be clean and in the same condition as when we gave them out. Next year there will be a signed agreement on having a jacket just like the chromebook agreement that we started this year.

Celebration of Learning
There are a few end of year events happening. The first is our Celebration of Learning in two weeks. It is being held on the Friday afternoon, November 29, 2024, as we had a great turn out when we did the last celebration. The Market Day is being used as a fundraising event and the funds will be sent to Kids Can. This is in lieu of a mufti day. There is a price limit of no more than $5 on the items that will be sold.
It is the process the students are going through that is the learning. Define the problem. Research the problem then design the solution. Finally creating the solution. Which may or may not work. There is a lot of learning involved that will be showcased on the Market Day.
