The school was very lucky to have the use of the farm again this year to run the event.  This created a one of a kind experience. Where else would students get the opportunity to run through cow paddocks, boggy stretches of mud, past piles of Cyclone Gabrielle ravaged trees, and farming machinery? A special thank you needs to go out to Mark Miers and Reece Williams, who let the school use the farm. Without your generosity, the event wouldn’t have been able to go ahead or be the success it was.

It was wonderful to see POWER on display throughout the day. Every runner took the Opportunity to challenge themselves by participating. Pride could be seen on the faces of participants as they crossed the finish line having tried their best. Whanau was evident in the way students supported each other when runners needed that little push to get over the line.

Wairakei Primary School would like to thank  all the people that made the day such a success; the school staff, race marshalls, place getters, and all the people that turned up to support the students. A special thank you needs to go out to Bevan for all his work in organising and running the event.

Well done to all the students who qualified for the Interschool Cross Country competition. Know that the school is already proud of you for your achievements.

2024 Morehu

Paul Morehu

I am from Christchurch but moved to Taupō at the end of 2018. I am passionate about travelling with my most memorable trip being to Egypt. I also love keeping fit through sport, the gym and just getting out and exploring the outdoors.

I have been a qualified teacher working in New Zealand since 2013. Prior to that, I spent 8 years in Hong Kong working with Chinese children in primary schools.

I decided to pursue a career in teaching because I loved the idea of making a difference in the world by helping children learn and develop as people. It is rewarding to see the progress children make and to be a part of their learning journeys.
