June 24        Hune 24

Week 9 Term 2, 2025

It has been a very fast term. Nine week terms often occur in the first or last term. It is unusual to be in a middle term. We have managed to complete the term with a large amount of highlights.

Highlights

  • A successful school swimming event and students going on to win the interschool trophy for the second time in a row.

  • EPRO8. Instead of the usual two teams competing at the local event between the local schools, we went on to the finals day and then onto the grand final. Great learning experiences.

  • New bag hooks outside room 12/10 on the deck. Wonderfully made locally by Mainland Engineering.

  • Celebration of Learning with Hangi. Combined community effort to make this occur. Lots of happy faces and full tummies. The slide show of the crazy Chemistry undertaken within all the classes over the term is now on the website in the blog section.

  • High praise for the blogs from a new teacher coming to the school next term. She read all of the blogs from Term 1 and has been following along in Term 2 to see what the schools gets up to.

  • New sports equipment from Fern Fuels. What an amazing enterprise that supports local schools.

  • Painting of the school inside and out. It is so nice to have fresh paint to make buildings look smart.

  • A range of biking experiences from Kids Bike Taupō in the junior school to the Pedal Safe programme for the senior school.

  • Professional learning for the teachers and teacher aides on the Teacher-Only day. Very successful day of learning about Mathematics.

  • PTA Disco and the combined efforts of the parents and teachers to make it work.

  • Whare tiaki celebrations across the term concluding with the bouncy castles from Event Rent this Wednesday. Thank you to Event Rent for the ongoing support.

  • A personal favourite. A tree for every child. 80 trees were planted this year. Photos are here.

The biggest acknowledgement from me was the support given to the school when we asked parents to keep their children at home. Thank you all for the support. We were under the pump that day and could not have remained open without the community backing us.

On Thursday, June 26, all parents will receive an email from the school with instructions on how to log into the parent portal to access the school reports. This is just the set-up stage. The reports are coming out in Week 1, Term 3. As a parent, you get to look around the portal after logging on. The school also gets a chance to iron out any issues.

The Tile is the best place to access the portal. On the bottom bar of the tile is eTap. By clicking on the link you can enter the username and password that will be sent in the email.

Parent teacher interviews

Parent teacher discussions are happening on Thursday, July 24, 12.30 - 5.50p.m. You can book your interview time using the website https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code and the code g2jnv.

Events for Term 3 and 4 are starting to go into the school calendar. Reminders are posted on the school Facebook page and through the tile.

Have a safe and restful term break. The teachers and I are planning for Term 3 and 4. We look forward to catching up with you on Monday, July 14, 2025.
