We tried to make a power station replica that shows renewable energy.
Parts - turbine - a turbine is a device that harnesses the kinetic energy of fluid, such as water, steam or air. Our turbine is made with cardboard and straw. You use the straw to spin it as the steam goes through.
Generator - Steam pushes some blades on a rotor shaft. The force on the blades rotates the generator. The generator converts the mechanical energy of the rotor.
This is how power is made. Then the water goes into a cooling tower, back into the earth and it goes over and over again. This is why it is called renewable energy.
I am passionate about teaching and learning, particularly in the areas of digital technology, languages, and the core subjects of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
I lead the curriculum area of Digital Technologies and I am the staff representative on the Board of Trustees.
I enjoy Wairakei Primary School for the whānaungatanga and close connections between staff and students. There is a strong community feel. Innovation and creativity are encouraged, and opportunities for students abound. Our place is one of life-long learning and showing POWER each and every day.
